Huawei’s consumer business COO He Gang announced on social media today that Huawei has made breakthroughs in the research of wearable blood pressure measurement technology on the wrist. The first Huawei smartwatch that can measure blood pressure will be launched. According to He Gang, Huawei’s first smartwatch that can measure blood pressure has passed the medical device registration test, and the next step will be to start a registered clinical trial with professional medical institutions. It is reported that the product is expected to be officially launched in the second half of the year.
Earlier, at the pollen annual meeting in 2021, He Gang shared his outlook on sports and health. He mentioned that in the future, Huawei ‘s digital health research will gradually cover the four vital signs of the human body: pulse, blood pressure, body temperature and breathing.
In terms of blood pressure measurement, the traditional blood pressure measurement equipment is too large and the measurement method is complicated, and cannot be carried around. In most cases, people can only recognize the symptoms of high blood pressure after they feel unwell or get sick. If the proactive screening and active intervention in the treatment process can be carried out, it will undoubtedly be very good news for the potentially hypertensive population and the patients undergoing treatment.
It is understood that Huawei’s new smartwatch can not only measure blood pressure, but also provide blood pressure management services with professional medical institutions to help users carry out active health management.
