15 people killed in Sudanese pro-democracy demonstration, security forces fired in protest of military governance

A democratic demonstration was held on the 17th in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, and its suburbs, protesting military-led rule. At least 15 people were killed and dozens injured when security forces fired live ammunition, according to a local medical group. The worst casualties have occurred since the military coup on October 25th.

Demonstrations were also held in major cities such as Omdurman, with thousands of participants. He appealed for a return to a democratic political system and called for a coup leader’s trial.
