1. Source of life for people

Around 500 decades ago, people, more precisely the Ancient Egyptians completely relied on this river Nile for everything, be it their freshwater, food and even transportation. Another interesting fact about this, it also provided fertile land for farming purposes. In August, every year the river flooded and eventually, the water got spread across the river bands making it the muddiest land. That was pretty perfect for growing crops!

2. Home to a diverse wildlife

The Nile river doesn’t play a vital role in human life. It also serves as a habitat for several creatures like turtles, snakes, and different kinds of fishes. Little did you know, it’s home to one of the biggest reptiles- the crocodile. It is often called the Nile Crocodile!

3. No more gets flooded

Earlier, the Nile rivers used to get flooded. But now, it doesn’t! Why? The reason is the Aswan High Dam. During the period 1960-to 1970, this dam was built which controls the flooding of the river, every year.

4. Also called ‘Black River

The Ancient Egyptians used to call the Nile – the ‘Black River’. Because of the mineral-rich feature, they named the same.

5. The Rosetta Stone

Back in 1787, the Rosetta Stone was found in the delta region of the river. It plays a major role in the modern assessment it Egyptian paintings.
