These days, Wind and Solar Energy are causing a decline in Bird Population. We are aware of the fact that renewable energy production kills the avian species but the reason is still not known. In California, United States, 23 different bird species are killed at the facilities of wind and solar energy. The harmful effect extends not only to the nearby regions but also to distant places, even across the continental migration networks.
To know the details of how much these renewable energies have been causing a decline in the growth rate of the avian species, this article is the right choice. Also, experts have suggested some ways to bring changes to save the priority bird species.

Wind and Solar Energy are causing a decline in Bird Population
Even though California experiences the Mediterranean climate, the energy production industries affect badly. Recorded from 2009 to 2019, the production rate has increased from 300% to 9400% respectively. Similarly, the energy capacity of the solar power industry in 2009 was 0.4 GW. However, it is supposed to increase to 75 GW in the next three years. It has some rarest and most unique birds in the world. These bird species include- golden eagles, road owls, golden cuckoo, and many more.

According to the Bayesian hierarchical models, 48% of the priority bird species (which counts to 11 in number) were vulnerable to ‘population-level effects’ from added fatalities that are caused by renewables and other sources. To be more precise, the growth rates have been decreased because of the wind turbine and solar panel killings. Direct habitat loss through wind farm construction contributes to the same.
Taking note of this, several experts have suggested that the bird mortality rate can be reduced using automatic shut down of the wind turbines. It needs to be preserved. The use of radars will also be very much beneficial. Otherwise, we are surely on the edge of losing certain unique and precious bird species of this world.
