Good day! As the UK basks in what is being described as “summer’s last hurrah,” we’re experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures.
On Wednesday, Inverness reached a sizzling 25.5°C, a notable 14°C above the norm for this time of year. Today’s forecast continues to favor warmth and sunshine, with London expected to hit 26°C.
However, the high-pressure system currently in place will soon shift. By Friday, we’ll start to see a change in the weather pattern.
The Met Office warns that as the high-pressure moves north and east, thundery showers will begin to develop in southern England.
Expect a gradual dip in temperatures over the weekend. Saturday’s highs will reach around 24°C in East Anglia, dropping to the low 20s on Sunday.
The weekend will bring heavy downpours to central and southern England, as well as parts of Wales. The Met Office may issue weather warnings as these intense showers approach.
This month, the UK has seen an average rainfall of 49.5mm, which aligns with typical September figures. Looking ahead to next week, anticipate “successive bands of rain” and weather more characteristic of autumn.
