This week, the weather in Thorneside, Queensland, is calm and clear, but a devastating house fire has left the community reeling.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services responded to a tragic incident south of Brisbane, where two lives were claimed by a blaze that ripped through a townhouse in Bayside Court.
The fire, which broke out early Sunday morning around 7 a.m., quickly engulfed the home. Despite clear weather, strong winds likely contributed to the rapid spread of flames.
Firefighters battled the intense blaze for over 40 minutes, but sadly, they found the body of an eight-year-old girl shortly after extinguishing the flames.
A second body, believed to be a 31-year-old woman, was discovered later at the scene. The woman was reportedly babysitting the young girl when the fire started.
Authorities are now working to confirm their identities through postmortem examinations.
The fire’s intensity was so extreme that part of the house’s roof collapsed, making it difficult for rescuers and neighbors, who rushed to help, to reach those trapped inside.
The Queensland Fire Department remains at the scene, stabilizing the damaged structure for further investigations.
Police are appealing to the community for any information or footage that may assist in determining the cause of the fire.
While the weather may be clear and quiet, the emotional storm in Thorneside lingers as tributes pour in for the young girl.
