As we approach midweek, residents in southern and eastern Ontario may still see flurries, particularly in areas north of Lake Ontario. However, a return to unseasonably warm, almost beach-like conditions is on the horizon.
Environment Canada meteorologist Trudy Kidd explained the current weather pattern: “We have a low-pressure system to our east and a high-pressure system to our west, which is allowing a flow of crisp, cool arctic air.
This is why we’re experiencing these cooler temperatures.”
The forecast indicates light precipitation Tuesday night into Wednesday, including the possibility of flurries, but no significant accumulation is expected.
Following this, clear skies are set to dominate the region from Wednesday through Monday, October 21, with temperatures gradually rising into the high teens and even reaching the low twenties in some areas.
“The high-pressure system will shift eastward, ending the flow of cool air,” Kidd noted, though it will remain crisp during the nights.
Here’s a look at the temperature trend for Pearson Airport in Mississauga:
– Wednesday: 11°C / 1°C
– Thursday: 14°C / 3°C
– Friday: 17°C / 4°C
– Saturday: 18°C / 6°C
– Sunday: 19°C / 8°C
– Monday: 19°C
Kidd described the high-pressure system as robust, which will bring clear skies to most areas starting Thursday. This trend is consistent across other communities, including Parry Sound, North Bay, Barrie, Hamilton, and Peterborough.
