A 19-hour weather warning has been issued for parts of Cambridgeshire, with heavy rainfall expected on Monday, September 30. The Met Office warning will be in effect from 8 AM on Monday through 3 AM on Tuesday, October 2.
The affected areas include northern parts of Cambridgeshire, such as Peterborough and Wisbech.
Rainfall is expected to range between 20mm and 40mm in most places, though some areas could see up to 60mm or 80mm. The heavy rain may result in localized flooding and disruptions.
Several flood alerts and warnings have already been issued in Cambridgeshire following last week’s rain. The Met Office warns of potential power outages and loss of services to homes and businesses.
Some areas may experience road closures or delays in train and bus services due to spray and flooding. Motorists are urged to be cautious of difficult driving conditions.
Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to take precautions by preparing flood plans and assembling emergency kits. The public is encouraged to monitor weather forecasts for any changes in warnings or conditions.
In a separate weather alert, a yellow warning has been issued for Wales, with strong winds expected on Sunday. Gusts of 50-55 mph are forecast, potentially exceeding 60 mph in exposed areas.
Coastal routes and seafronts may be affected by large waves, and transport disruptions are likely. The winds, accompanied by rain, will gradually ease by Sunday night.
