The UK is preparing for a significant weather event, with heavy rain and strong winds set to impact areas still recovering from recent flooding. The Met Office has issued two new weather warnings effective Sunday, warning residents of potential disruptions.
A yellow rain warning will be in effect from 4 PM Sunday until 9 AM Monday, covering much of southern England and South Wales.
Meteorologists predict rainfall totals between 20mm and 30mm in many areas, with localized higher ground possibly experiencing up to 80mm.
This additional rain comes on top of already saturated grounds and high river levels, raising concerns for further flooding.

Becky Mitchell, a meteorologist with the Met Office, stated that while the expected rainfall isn’t excessive, the already wet conditions could lead to new flooding incidents.
In addition to the rain, a yellow wind warning is also in effect for south-west England and Wales, anticipating gusts of 50 to 60 mph. This could lead to travel disruptions, fallen trees, and potential power outages throughout the day.
Temperatures on Sunday are forecasted to be 3C-4C below average, remaining in the low double figures. Craig Snell from the Met Office advises travelers to plan accordingly, allowing extra time for journeys and checking public transport services before heading out.
