A yellow heat health alert has been issued for most of England as temperatures are expected to reach up to 30°C in some areas. This alert, effective from Monday morning through Thursday afternoon, affects all regions except the north-east.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office have highlighted the potential for significant impacts on health and social care.
The highest temperatures are anticipated in the southeast, particularly in London, Essex, and Kent, with strong warnings in the East Midlands, East Anglia, and the east of England. However, the north-east is not included in this alert.
UKHSA has cautioned that vulnerable individuals could face increased health risks, and indoor environments might become uncomfortably warm in various parts of the country, including the north-west, north-east, west, south-west, and London.
Met Office meteorologist Liam Esslick noted that while temperatures could hit 30°C, especially in the south-east, it is not certain. He advised people to enjoy the warm weather but to stay protected from intense UV levels.
Esslick recommended using sun protection, staying hydrated, and seeking shade during peak sun hours. Those sensitive to the sun should be particularly cautious.
Esslick mentioned that the forecast remains uncertain beyond Wednesday, with a possible shift in weather patterns, including potential thunderstorms, expected late Wednesday into Thursday. The weather is expected to be pleasant through the early part of the week.
