This weekend is set to bring a significant warming trend following the recent chilly conditions. According to the Met Office, temperatures are anticipated to climb as high as 21°C in southern England, offering a marked contrast to the recent low of -2.7°C recorded in North Yorkshire.
Forecasts indicate a mix of sunny spells and pleasant autumnal weather across England, Wales, and eastern Scotland for much of the weekend.
However, Scotland and Northern Ireland will experience wet and windy conditions on Saturday afternoon.
Meteorologist Marco Petagna highlights that while varied weather conditions will persist, substantial periods of fine weather are expected. In the southern regions, temperatures may reach up to 19°C or even 20°C.
A band of rain is expected to move south into northern England and north Wales overnight, gradually weakening and transitioning to lighter rain across central areas of the UK.
Saturday night will see temperatures easing slightly, with lows around 3°C to 4°C in parts of southern England. On Sunday, light rain is forecasted, but there will also be ample sunshine in northern regions. Temperatures in the southeast could again reach 21°C, with the mid to upper teens expected elsewhere.
The rain will continue to move southward, affecting northern England, Wales, the Midlands, and parts of East Anglia later in the day.
However, the far south of England and south Wales are likely to remain dry and bright, with Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England seeing occasional sunshine.
Looking ahead to next week, the fine weather is expected to persist, with the possibility of a few clouds and light rain in the far north/north-west of Scotland. By midweek, temperatures in the southeast could rise to 23°C, bringing even warmer conditions.
