NEPC crews clear debris to restore power as storms continue to impact Bacolod City.

Strong Winds and Rains Hamper Power Restoration Efforts in Bacolod Amid Tropical Storms

Bacolod City continues to experience heavy rains and strong winds due to the southwest monsoon, intensified by Tropical Storm Ferdie and Tropical Depression Gener.

These adverse weather conditions have slowed the power restoration efforts of the Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC).

The storm has caused widespread power outages across the city, as fallen trees damaged power lines.

Fallen trees on power lines cause widespread outages, slowing restoration efforts in affected areas.

NEPC crews are working diligently to clear debris and restore electricity to affected areas. However, the company notes that many areas still require vegetation clearing before full restoration can occur.

NEPC assures the public that all necessary steps are being taken to restore power quickly. Unfortunately, the weather continues to cause technical issues, leading to unscheduled interruptions.

In a tragic update, NEPC confirmed the passing of one of its linemen, Jessie James Torremocha, who lost his life while working to restore power.

Torremocha fell from a height of 30 feet while securing his harness during a vegetation-clearing operation. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday night.

Heavy rains and strong winds are expected to continue, making restoration efforts challenging. NEPC asks for patience and understanding from the public as their crews work tirelessly to address the situation.
