The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across the country on Friday, July 7.
Mumbai saw light rain this morning, but a cloudburst in Uttarakhand has left over 200 people trapped in Pithoragarh after a bridge collapsed. The Amarnath Yatra has also been suspended due to adverse weather conditions affecting Kashmir.
In Dharchula, Uttarakhand, a cloudburst near Chal village led to the collapse of a bridge, isolating more than 200 individuals.

The IMD forecasts persistent heavy rainfall in Gujarat until July 9 and along the Himalayan foothills and adjacent plains until July 12.

Mumbai is under a yellow alert for heavy rain on July 7, with the city experiencing 69 mm of rain overnight from July 5-6, categorized as heavy. Moderate rainfall is expected over the weekend.
In Delhi, the IMD predicts generally cloudy skies with light rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 30°C to 26°C.
Central and northern regions, along with Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat, are facing the brunt of the monsoon, while rainfall in peninsular South India is expected to decrease.
Karnataka has reported waterlogging in Udupi district, and Kerala has a yellow alert in several districts, with Thiruvananthapuram expecting cloudy skies and sporadic rain. Mangaluru has also experienced heavy rains causing mini waterfalls along its roads.
The IMD’s update indicates that isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue over Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra over the next two days, with Gujarat experiencing similar conditions for the next 4-5 days.
The northwest, including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, is expected to see heavy rain for the next five days. The eastern and northeastern regions will also experience heavy rainfall over the next five days.
